Punjab Govt to sign cross border accord with India to control smog

In order to curb pollution and smog, Punjab Government has decided to sign cross border agreement with India besides digitalizing Brick Kilns and Industrial areas across the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb chairing a high level meeting on pollution and smog challenges said that emission controller system will be installed at all industrial estates in Punjab within three months.


The minister said strict action will also be taken against factories emitting smoke in the air.


Marriyum Aurangzeb announced that on the orders of Punjab government polythene bags were being banned across Punjab from June 6.


Marriyum Aurangzeb said clean air was the basic right of each and every individual and those involved in spreading pollution will not be spared.


Moreover, she said in order to create awareness about smog, new app will be launched. While students will be appointed as environment ambassadors and Climate Change Councils will be set up at educational institutes.


During the meeting, it was also decided that in order to control hospital waste, a management board will be set up to resolve this issue permanently.
