Inflation soars to 15.85 as 28 items become costlier

The Sensitive Price Index (SPI) for the current week has registered an increase of 0.49% while prices of 28 items have gone up, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Pakistan Statistics of Bureau on Friday released the SPI for the week ending on May 12, 2022. 

According to the statistics provided by the bureau, the weekly inflation has hiked up to 15.85%. However, the inflation rate for low income group has been risen by 13.93%. 

During a week, an increase in the prices of 28 items has been registered. 

Last week, the price of 20kg sack of wheat flour was hiked by Rs43.85; price of broiler chicken soared by Rs33.87/kg; potatoes by Rs2.46/kg; eggs by Rs7.51 per dozen; Masoor Dal by Rs10.80/kg; onion by Rs3.37/kg; Chana Dal by Rs3.80; Maash Dal by Rs5.59; mutton by Rs21.21/kg; and beef by Rs3.50/kg. 

Besides these, the prices of other food items including cooking oil, rice and Moong Dal also went up.  

However, in the last week, prices of 5 items decreased while rates of 17 articles remained same.
