Punjab Assembly Speaker and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s (PML-Q) chief whip Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Saturday convened parliamentary party’s meeting tomorrow evening (Sunday) to decide on party’s parting of its ways with the government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Convening the meeting, Elahi said that PML-Q had been supporting the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government both at the Centre and in Punjab for the last three years. “We are supporting them. But they are not as the party’s workers are not being treated fairly by the provincial government,” he regretted.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Kamil Ali Agha said that the Senate elections were enough to remind the PTI government of the steadfastness with which the PML-Q had stood by it. “Have the PTI bigwigs forgotten how their party had won the elections without asking for the votes?” he questioned.
“And still we steered them out of very tough elections,” he claimed.
In yet another development, PML-Q’s Central Executive Council has referred the matter of supporting the government bills at the joint session of the parliament to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
Elahi will inform the parliamentary party leaders of his decision at party’s meeting tomorrow.
