A contact was held between PTI Chairman Imran Khan and party President Ch Pervaiz Elahi in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi over the next general elections in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to sources, the duo exchanged messages in the Adiala Jail where they are currently incarcerated regarding the awarding of party tickets in Punjab.
Sources said that Pervaiz Elahi is responsible for the awarding of PTI tickets in the Punjab province.
Imran Khan has sought Elahi’s opinion in this regard, they divulged.
The PTI chairman assured Elahi that he would give preference to the latter’s opinion while distributing party tickets during the upcoming polls.
However, talking to journalists in the courtroom, where he came to attend the hearing of a case against him on Friday, Elahi denied having established any contact with the PTI chairman.
When asked by a journalist if Imran Khan sought his suggestions regarding the distribution of party tickets for the next polls, he said: “Nothing of this sort has happened. On the contrary, food is not good in jail. I have got food poisoning. I have come here with great difficulty.”
When the journalist insisted that an exchange of messages took place between him and Imran Khan, he parried the question saying that after the judge’s visit to jail, the wall of Khan Sahib’s cell was demolished.
When asked if he would remain in the PTI or quit it, he said: “I will not leave PTI, that’s why I’m languishing in jail”.
He said that he was standing with Imran Khan with full force. He was of the view if the election was held, then it could not be held with hands tied up. He said that election without Imran would have no credibility.

He said that the PML-N was pinning hopes on the Supreme Court decision. He hailed the decision. He said that let’s wait what would be the narrative of Nawaz Sharif.
In its SC (Practice & Procedure) Act 2023 case decision, the Full Court by a majority of 8-7 declared sub-section (2) of Section 5 of the Act (granting a right of appeal retrospectively) ultra vires the Constitution and allowed the petitions in this regard.
On the cipher case, Elahi said it was not a big deal. “The PTI Chairman and Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi will emerge as victorious in the case”.
He again complained about the bad food served in the Adiala jail, saying that his stomach had been upset since yesterday.
He said that the jail authorities were not obeying any court order regarding providing facilities to them in the prison. He lamented that he was even denied the facility of a personal physician’s visit in the jail.
Court adjourns hearing of terrorism case
An anti-terrorism court on Friday adjourned the hearing of a case related to vandalism at the Judicial Complex against former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi till October 24.
The former Punjab chief minister was presented before the Court of Duty Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand.
The duty judge heard Elahi’s case because Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain was on leave today.
Elahi’s lawyer Sardar Abdul Razzaq appeared in the court.
At the outset of the hearing, the duty judge inquired of the investigation officer if the challan had been submitted in Elahi’s case.
The IO replied in affirmative, adding that notice too had been done in the case.
The judge remarked it would be better if the court fixed the Oct 24 date for the next hearing of Elahi’s case along with the date of other co-accused.
However, Elahi rose from his seat and came up to the rostrum. He requested the court to give him a long date. His lawyer told the court that Elahi would be appearing in another court in Lahore on the same date.
However, the duty judge did not change the hearing date and adjourned the case till October 24.
