A delegation of the Christian community from Gujrat met with Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, on Sunday, announcing their decision to leave Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and join Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q).

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, during the meeting, the Christian representatives expressed their hope that under PML-Q leadership, their community’s welfare would be addressed.

The Christian delegation highlighted that in the past, little had been done for the betterment of their community, but they were optimistic about the new leadership.

They praised PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain for his development work in the region and urged for improvements, including the allocation of land for Christian cemeteries, renovation of churches, and infrastructure enhancement.

In response, Ch Shafay Hussain assured them that his government has launched several welfare programs for the public, including specific initiatives for the Christian community and other minorities.

He also shared that an international-standard sewage system is being introduced in Gujrat with support from the World Bank, which is expected to be completed in two years.

Additionally, he informed the delegation that ten schools and several parks in Gujrat are being upgraded, and work is progressing swiftly on the city's Safe City Project.

He also revealed plans to build a new industrial estate and a 200-bed hospital in Gujrat. Ch Shafay reiterated his commitment to fulfilling every promise made under the leadership of former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and assured the Christian community that their legitimate demands would be met.
