PTI leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai on Tuesday appeared before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team in Peshawar to answer questions in the party’s prohibited funding case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The FIA team handed the minister a questionnaire and asked him to come to the Agency’s office again tomorrow.
Later speaking to the media, Yousafzai said it was a pity that when a large part of the country was under floodwaters and the economy was really in a bad shape, the imported government was bent upon declaring former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan ‘disqualified’. “That’s why it is registering fake cases against our party leaders,” he said, and added, “These are not benami accounts, which are being investigated. PTI owns these accounts because party funds were deposited in them.”
PTI leader also made it clear that the party had the record of each and every penny.
However, he assured that he and other party leaders would keep respecting the institutions and would appear whenever summoned.
At the same time, KP minister complained that Centre was not concerned about the plight of flood-affected people of the province. “The federal government should declare flood-affected areas of our province calamity-hit,” he demanded.
No PTI office-bearer appeared despite summons:
On the other hand, not a single office-bearer of the PTI’s finance committee appeared before the FIA team in Islamabad today for questioning in the party’s prohibited funding case despite summons.
The FIA had summoned Secretary Finance Sardar Azhar Tariq, Atif Khan and Jamal Ansari at 1:00 in the afternoon. But none of them showed up.
