Ex-PM Imran writes to ECP he does not recognize ‘imported’ govt

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has written a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in which he has conveyed to the commission that he does not recognize the newly installed government in the country since it is the product of a ‘foreign conspiracy’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

In the letter delivered by PTI leader Babar Awan to the ECP on Thursday, the former premier says the PTI is the largest party in the country and had secured more votes than any other political party in 2018 general elections. “But unfortunately, an ‘imported’ and an ‘unconstitutional’ government was installed,” he regretted.   

PTI chairman writes that all party members of the National Assembly (MNAs) had resigned on April 11, and that references had been filed against the MNAs who had defected to the opposition prior to voting on the no-trust motion under article 63-A of the constitution. “From now onwards, the party will not be responsible for any of their action,” he makes it clear.  

He also asks the election commission not to nominate any PTI MNA for the seat of opposition leader or member of any parliamentary committee since they all have resigned now.  

Imran further says that he withdraws the names of the people he had nominated for the reserved seats of women and minorities.
