Chief Justice (CJ) of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan on Saturday released a 31-page decision on Transparency International Pakistan’s (TIP) National Corruption Perception Survey in which it had ranked judiciary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as the third most corrupt institution of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, in his last decision as the chief justice of the PHC, ordered the TIP to again publish its report for the year, 2023 by including in it the facts which, hitherto, were missing from it, and submit it to the registrar of the high court by April 24, 2024.
In his order, the CJ said that the fresh report should cover all shades of the public opinion so that nothing remained hidden from the public eye.
Justice Ibrahim said that the TIP ought to have corrected mistakes in the report on its own.
The judge, however, also made it clear that the decision should not be portrayed as an effort to infringe upon the freedom of expression.
