The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) has condemned an alleged attack on Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of ex-PM Nawaz Sharif, near the office of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Lahore.

“Maryam Nawaz is not a common person. She is daughter of a former prime minister,” JUI-F senator Ghafoor Haidri said as he walked out of the Senate on Thursday to show solidarity with Maryam.

Talking to 24NewsHD, he said the PML-N leadership should have registered strong protest over the incident but did not bother. “Maryam Nawaz is our sister. She deserves respect.  We may face such an incident. This should not be happened again,” he stressed.

Reportedly, a violent clash took place between PML-N workers and lawmen near NAB Lahore office where the daughter of Nawaz showed up in connection with a probe into ‘illegal transfer of 200 acres of land in Raiwind’.  Allegedly the property was transferred in the name of Maryam Nawaz in 2014 whereas 100 kanals each were transferred to her father Nawaz and uncle Shehbaz.

The PML-N leadership blamed the mess on the government while the government dubbed the incident a pre-planned act to win sympathies of public.
