A concerning revelation has emerged regarding the failure of public sector hospitals in Lahore to report dengue cases, reported 24NewsHd TV channel on Tuesday.
According to sources, despite repeated instructions by the Punjab Health Department, several government hospitals in Lahore did not report any dengue cases during July.
Notably, major hospitals such as Mayo, Services, General, Jinnah, and Children’s Hospital failed to report a single dengue case throughout the month.
Only Ganga Ram and Nawaz Sharif hospitals reported cases during this period.
It has also been reported that several private hospitals in the city did not report any dengue cases, further complicating efforts to track and contain the virus.
The lack of reporting from both public and private healthcare facilities is causing significant challenges in implementing effective dengue control measures.
One of the critical issues resulting from this underreporting is the inability to confirm the locations of dengue patients.
This lack of data has severely hampered surveillance efforts in affected areas, making it difficult for health authorities to carry out targeted interventions to prevent the spread of the virus.
Health officials have expressed concern that the failure to report cases undermines the city's dengue prevention strategies and poses a serious risk to public health.
