The nation on Wednesday celebrated 78th Independence Day with a renewed pledge to work with spirit of Pakistan Movement to make country a true Islamic welfare state, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  


The day dawned with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute at provincial headquarters.


Special prayers were offered in mosques for peace, solidarity and prosperity of the country.


The main feature of the celebrations will be a national flag-hoisting ceremony in Islamabad.


Similar flag-hoisting ceremonies will also be held at provincial, divisional, district and tehsil headquarters throughout the country.


Meanwhile, roadside stalls selling flags, badges, stickers and clothes have been set up in all cities of the country.


A two-day Independence Festival was commenced at F-9 Park in Islamabad, offering a historic and enchanting experience for people living in the federal capital.


The highlight of the event was Pakistan’s first-ever drone show, featuring 500 drones that simultaneously illuminated the sky with images of the Pakistani flag and other mesmerizing visuals. This spectacular display was a tribute to the love and spirit of Pakistan.


The festival, open to the public with free entry, provided families with a perfect opportunity to enjoy a memorable outing.


Various entertainment stalls and activities for children, along with food stalls offering a variety of delicious treats, added to the festive atmosphere.



PM performs flag-hoisting at Pakistan Monument


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif performed the flag-hoisting at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad Wednesday morning.


The prime minister also laid a floral wreath at the National Monument and prayed for the development and progress of Pakistan.


On the occasion, national anthem was played and children, wearing colourful attires and carrying national flags in their hands, also participated in the ceremony.



Sindh CM, Governor greet nation on Independence Day


Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Governor Muhammad Kamran Tesuri attended ceremony at Mazar-e-Quaid on Independence Day.


On this occasion, the provincial ministers and advisors were also present.


Talking to media on the occasion, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah congratulated the nation on Independence Day.


Syed Murad Ali Shah said the country is currently going through difficult times and we have to unite and move the country forward.


Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said those who are spreading hatred cannot see the country developing.



Today on Independence Day we should also remember the sacrifices of the people of Palestine and Kashmir, Syed Murad Ali Shah said.


Chief Minister Sindh also saluted the martyrs of Pakistan forces and police who sacrificed for the sake of this country.


We have to unite and keep this country happy and prosperous, Syed Murad Ali Shah said.


He further said most of the problems in this country have been created by those who spread hatred.


Syed Murad Ali Shah said Pakistan especially the people of Sindh faced dangerous floods.


The people who are the source of power will get this country out of all problems, Chief Minister said.



Flag-hoisting at KP Governor House


A dignified flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Governor’s House in Peshawar on Wednesday on the occasion of Independence Day. The governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, conducted the flag hoisting ceremony. 


The event saw the special participation of Consul Generals from the United States of America, Iran, and Afghanistan. 


Provincial Assembly member Ahmad Karim Kundi, along with the staff of the Governor’s House and other distinguished guests, also attended the ceremony. 


During the ceremony, the Consul Generals from the three countries joined Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and other attendees in chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” (Long live Pakistan). 


Following the flag hoisting, special prayers were offered for the country’s development and prosperity.


Governor Faisal Karim Kundi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire nation on Pakistan’s Independence Day. 


He paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army, police, and Army Public School, expressing his gratitude. 


Kundi emphasized the need for peace, prosperity, and development in the province and called for collective efforts to honor the sacrifices that led to the country’s independence.


In his message on Independence Day, Governor Kundi congratulated the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the merged districts. 


He highlighted that the free nation is a result of the great sacrifices and sustained struggle of our ancestors. 


Kundi reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the country along the path of development in line with the principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He stressed that the principles of unity, faith, and discipline are essential for securing Pakistan’s rightful place among the nations.


As a nation, Kundi pledged to fulfill the dreams of Pakistan’s founder and work towards building a prosperous, peaceful, and stable Pakistan. 
He underscored the significance of the green and white flag as a symbol of the country’s identity and independence.


Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also urged overcoming challenges and uniting as a nation to protect the country’s ideological and geographical integrity, vowing to make any necessary sacrifices for the homeland.


BHC CJ hoists national flag


Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Justice Hashim Khan Kakar on Wednesday hoisted the national flag at BHC complex to mark the country’s 77th Independence Day.


Honourable Judges of Balochistan High court, District, Judicial officers, prominent lawyers attended the graceful ceremony.


The CJ BHC, vowing to contribute to the development of Pakistan, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the nation on the eve of National Independence Day.


Longest national flag waves in Muzaffarabad


The longest national flag in the history of Azad Kashmir was hoisted in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday.


Kashmiri youth hoisted the longest 80 feet long and 30 feet wide national flag in the history of Azad Kashmir in the capital city of Muzaffarabad.


Before hoisting the national flag, the youth took out a rally from Dumail to Naluchhi Bridge. A large number of citizens participated in the rally.


The atmosphere of the capital echoed with the slogans of ‘Kashmir Banega Pakistan’ and ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.


A large number of citizens gathered to see the largest flag in the history of Azad Kashmir and for taking pictures with it.


Ambassadors Sha Zukang, Nong Rong honoured


In a dignified investiture ceremony held at Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi on Wednesday conferred the prestigious ‘Hilal-e-Quaid-i-Azam’ award, upon two distinguished Chinese dignitaries on behalf of the president of Pakistan.


The honorees were Ambassador Sha Zukang, former Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations in Geneva and past President of the China-Pakistan Friendship Association, and Ambassador Nong Rong, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and former Ambassador of China to Pakistan.


Ambassador Hashmi in his remarks extended heartfelt congratulations and paid a rich tribute to the contributions made by the two dignitaries. He highlighted the significant impact of their efforts on bilateral relations and beyond.


Ambassador Hashmi also recalled the salience of time-tested, all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan, describing it as a model of inter-state relations based on mutual respect, strategic trust, and a shared vision for global peace and development.


Both Ambassador Sha Zukang and Ambassador Nong Rong expressed gratitude to the president of Pakistan for the honor and reaffirmed their commitment to even further advancing the China-Pakistan relationship.


They acknowledged that brotherly ties between China and Pakistan had been a consistent guiding force in their work and stressed that the award was not just a recognition of their personal efforts but also an acknowledgement of collective contributions involving numerous highly dedicated individuals from both sides.


The event was attended by a large number of dignitaries, senior government officials and members of the Chinese State media.
