Maulana Fazlur Rehman, president of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), said on Thursday that forces ruling Pakistan for the last 77 years should look at their deeds and see if their actions have been in line with objectives of the creation of Pakistan.

Speaking at the Babul Islam Sindh Conference in Sukkur, Fazl said that some people carrying golden sticks in their hands think that they can make Pakistan a beautiful country. He said he wanted to tell all ‘vested interests’ to take the country in the right direction. He said that people's rights and resources are being usurped. He said that Sindhis have the right to their resources and people of other provinces have the right to resources in their provinces, and these rights should be acknowledged. He said the JUI-F lost the elections due to vote rigging and this is injustice. He said that JUI-F’s seats in the National Assembly were cut.

Fazl said that Pakistan is being pushed to anarchy. He said that he was asked for help in passage of the 26th constitutional amendment and he when he asked for its draft, he was given a draft in a black envelope.

He said that Pakistan is bleeding and everyone must accept responsibility. “What are our security institutions being paid for?” he asked. He condemned government’s violent actions and added that every party has the right to hold public gatherings and protests. He said that people will not remain silent on the prevailing lawlessness in the country. “We are living a life of slaves in Pakistan,” he said. He said the incumbent parliament and those on its back have distorted the face of the Constitution of Pakistan.

The JUI-F chief said there was no writ of the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and armed groups are taking control of various areas. He said that governments of these provinces have failed to establish the government’s writ.
