The security arrangements for the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been finalised, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.

A total of 17,176 police personnel will perform duty in three districts - Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi - where the matches will be played. In addition, three companies of the army will also be deployed for the security of the event.

A total of 6,936 personnel will be appointed in Lahore, 5,700 in Multan and 4,538 in Rawalpindi. The police will also coordinate with other districts to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the three host cities. The movement of teams and installation of jammers during matches will also be done by the police.

The aerial surveillance of PSL routes will be done by helicopters, while the event will be monitored 24 hours by Safe Cities’ cameras. Additional cameras will be installed in cricket teams' routes and stadiums.

Mobile command vans and drones will also be activated with cameras. Moreover, 20 Dolphin and 20 Elite Force teams will patrol the routes.

The cricket teams participating in PSL will be given the status of state guests, the statement said.

The Punjab Police assured that they will provide foolproof security for the event and urged the public to cooperate with them.
