The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has declared that there is no need for a husband to seek permission from his first wife for his second marriage.
The CII on Tuesday submitted its report from 2013-14 to the Law and Justice Committee of the Senate. The CII said that registration of marriage should continue as per the current system. The CII says in the report it’s legal to have four wives at a time and it is not mandatory for a husband to seek permission from his first wife for his second marriage. Also, the husband does not need to seek permission from the reconciliation council or the civil judge, the CII added.
