The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Amir Farooq hearing a petition against the ban on Multiplayer PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) game on Tuesday reserved verdict after hearing the arguments of both parties, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Amir Farooq remarked under what law you banned the game to which PTA lawyer Amir Farooq replied that there was some anti-Islamic material showed in the game and that was the reason for the ban.
PUBG counsel told IHC, “When we went to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) there was a consultative meeting.”
The IHC judge also said that PTA should have asked some psychiatrist on possible effects of the game on the players before putting the ban on the game.
Justice Amir Farooq inquired the PTA lawyer that where PTA has written in the meeting minutes documents about content that was against Islam in the game.
The PTA lawyer presenting another argument to ban the game said that PUBG game also contained some immoral scenes.
Justice Aamir Farooq remarked, “If Chief Police Officer (CPO) will say tomorrow to ban anything, then you will close down everything.” Justice Amir Farooq advised PTA to apply its mind.
IHC Justice also asked the PTA lawyer to highlight any applications that were received against the game’s un-Islamic content.
The PTA lawyer said that the authority suspended PUBG game as per ‘circumstances’ developed at that time to which the IHC Justice said, “You have to decide according to the law not according to situations.”
