The impact of the storm on airports and air routes will begin at 3 am and the national airline has set up special squads and taken pre-emptive steps, a spokesperson said.
Due to expected strong winds and dust, flights will be diverted to alternate airports and in case of bad weather, flights to Karachi and Sukkur, Lahore or Multan will be used as alternate airports.
The airline has cancelled the Karachi-Sukkur flight due to strong winds and gusts, while tomorrow's flight will be decided according to the weather updates. The PIA has activated the Emergency Response Centre and Ramp Safety Task Force
Containers, trolleys, dollies, engineering equipment and vehicles running on ramps are being moved to a safe place around the runway and apron. All grounded ships will be fitted with parking chocks to protect them from wind and hail.
Passengers are requested to contact the PIA before arriving at the airport.
