Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Friday issued directives to send the Ring Road embezzlement case to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Malik sent the “Fact-Finding Committee” report about embezzlements in the Ring Road Rawalpindi project to Punjab CM who ordered to implement on all recommendations of it.
The report exposed two main bureaucrats—former commissioner Rawalpindi Muhammad Mehmood and the land acquisition collector Waseem Ali Tabish—involved in the fraud of RS2.3 billion.
The report also suggested the Establishment Division should take disciplinary action against the commissioner as his brother had a link to the Makka City project and he misused the authority to give the financial advantage of RS2 billion to him.
The report urged to hold proper investigations against the Rental Syndicate and the role of Major General (R) Saleem Ishaq and Col (R) Asim Ibrahim Paracha to be informed concerning forces and authorities for action.
The report emphasized to hold an inquiry for comparison of market rates and the DC rates of the land as per the advertisement of Board of Revenue Punjab.
The report recommended the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) to hold a cyber inquiry on online advertisements of unapproved housing societies and others including Nova City, New Airport City, Blue World, Life Residential, Capital Smart City, and Top City.
It is also recommended in the report that the DC Attock, DC Rawalpindi, ADCR Rawalpindi, AC Rawalpindi Saddar, and Fateh Jang Tehsil Council Chief Officer should be immediately removed from their posts for criminal negligence and silence on the embezzlement issues.
The report also declared Tauqer Shah with some officers of NESPAK as well as the Planning and Development department’s member Farukh Naved a responsible for these impropriations.
The report suggested giving responsibility to the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and the FIA to start probes against 12 housing societies with its properties as there were chances of having anonymous shares of sitting or retired officers of the housing societies.
