Despite the fact that smog has once again increased in Lahore as the air quality index (AQI) dropped to 213 after shooting up to 399 on Tuesday, the School Education Department (SED) has not issued the notification for leave on Saturday despite court order, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Lahore was ranked as the third most polluted city in the world.
Due to smog, children are experiencing irritation in their eyes and throat.
Parents, on the other hand, have demanded that Saturday be immediately declared an off day.
And although instructions have been given to children to wear facemasks at schools, hardly 20 per cent of them wear masks.
The SED, on the other hand, has said that it has not yet received instructions from the court in writing, and Saturday would be declared an off day once it received these instructions.
The Met Office has forecast dry weather for the provincial capital during the next 24 hours.
It has predicted that maximum temperature in the city would go up to 26 degrees Celsius later in the day, while the minimum temperature stood at 13 degrees Celsius.
Humidity level in the air was recorded at 73 per cent.
