Labour Unions to observe Oct 16 as Black Day in Karachi

The Labour Union of retired employees of the local bodies department announced to observe October 16, 2024, as a black day in Karachi due to delay in payment of pension, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to details, around 9,500 retired employees of local bodies are still waiting to get their pension despite the passage of one year.
One employee, Zulfiqar Shah, said that enhancements in pensions did not apply to pensions of retired employees from 2019-20.
Dr Akhtar Saeed said that net payable dues had already reached Rs 12 billion.
Moreover, the local bodies department is avoiding receiving fresh cases filed for payment of pension.
It is necessary to mention here that on October 16, 2024, one year will be completed by these retired employees sans pension.
