The management of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) had to close the university’s entry and exit points on Monday after scores of the university students protesting against incidents of harassment at the campus tried to take out a rally on the Jail Road, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The protestors alleged that the university clerk named Hamid had harassed two female students.
They lamented that they were not safe even at the institution which was meant for females.
The university administration, on the other hand, was completely tightlipped about the incidents.
The protesting students of the Lahore College for Women’s University (LCWU) on Monday accused the university’s administration of not only taking no action against the clerk who had harassed two students but also covering up the incidents of rape, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The protestors, who blocked the Jail Road, alleged that most of the incidents of rape were reported during 2022-23.
They said that a second-year student who had come to take the evening class last Thursday was also subjected to rape.
The protestors said that while those who were raped later left the institution as their future was destroyed, the culprits still roamed about freely in the university.
They appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take notice of these incidents since Dr. Uzma Qureshi was not taking any action against those involved in the heinous crime despite having been informed several times.
