Sarabjit Singh murder suspect shot dead in Lahore
Amir Sarfaraz, alias Amir Tamba, a key figure in the assault on Indian spy inmate Sarabjit Singh in Kot Lakhpat jail in 2013, succumbed to gunshot wounds in a hospital on Sunday.
Two unidentified gunmen attacked him at his residence in Islampura. Police registered a case on the complaint of his brother.
According to reports, Amir was at his home when the attackers got in, and fired shots at him.
He received four bullet injuries – two in the chest and two in the legs.
According to police sources, a hunt for the attackers is on and investigators are piecing together evidence.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Amir was receiving threats.
On December 15, 2018, a district and sessions court in Lahore acquitted both accused due to all witnesses retracting their statements.
The Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh severe head injuries from the assault involving bricks and other blunt objects and he was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital where he died later.
