President Asif Zardari has stressed the need for unity and political harmony to get the country rid of the crisis, 24NewsHD TV channel said on Sunday.


 “Today's situation is due to lack of intelligence of the babus sitting in Islamabad,” the Pakistan People’s Party chairman said while addressing the participants of a rally taken out to commemorate the martyrdom of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on Sunday.


“Politicians should avoid ‘mistakes’ and forge unity to move ahead. The public has always been at the receiving end due to political conflicts.  


"We will make Pakistan better. We will strengthen the economy.”


He said the PPP will continue to support the government for economic stability and prosperity in the country as national interest was the top priority of the PPP and it will remain in touch with all political parties for the betterment of the country.


He said Pakistan was blessed with vast potential of minerals and natural resources and it would emerge from the current economic crisis through exploitation of these resources.


Paying tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, he said the Bhutto family always sacrificed their lives for the country and people. He said the party’s leadership and workers accepted martyrdom for the sake of the country. President Zardari thanked the people for reposing their confidence in the PPP in general elections.


He said “Some people doubted I would not be able to run the party. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto knew that I would run the party.” He said he has been doing his best.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari renewed resolve to carry forward the mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. 


He stressed today's rally will once again reflect the popularity of Bhuttoism among the poor and working people.


“Today's rally is not just a gathering, but a collective reiteration of following the principles of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The platform given by the Quaid-e-Awam is where the voices of marginalized people are heard and the rights of every citizen are protected.


“People gather to pay homage to the legacy of Shaheed Bhutto. The recent decision of the Supreme Court case indicates truth and justice.


“In the court verdict, the grave injustice done to the leader of the people and the denial of the fundamental right to a fair trial were admitted.


“It is a legal judgment as well as a moral endorsement of the unwavering struggle and dedication of the leader of the people for democracy and justice


He expressed his gratitude to the participants of the rally and paid tribute to the people who came from other parts of the country.


“Your presence is a testament to the strong legacy of Bhuttoism.:


He paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for making the sacrifice for democracy. 


He said let us pay homage to Shaheed Bhutto for the cause he sacrificed his life.


"Let us struggle to build a Pakistan where justice prevails. A Pakistan where democracy thrives and every citizen is empowered."


The PPP leadership also offered fateha on the graves of Bhuttos at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto.


Flag hoisting


President Asif Ali Zardari Sunday witnessed the national flag-hoisting ceremony at Naudero House. A smartly turned-out contingent of Sindh Police presented a guard of honour to the president.


Special prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country were offered. Pakistan People’s Chairman Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur and officials of the Sindh government were also present.


President Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari hoisted Pakistan's national flag at the official flag hoisting at Neodero house and officially declared it as president camp house on Sunday.


He reached Neodero's house from Sukkur Airport. At this flag-hoisting ceremony, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Faryal Talpur were also present.
