First international flight from Dubai welcomed at Skardu airport warmly

In a historic moment, the first international flight from Dubai on Monday landed at Skardu airport in Gilgit-Baltistan, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
PIA Flight PK234 carrying 80 passengers departed Dubai at 4:15 am and made a successful landing at Skardu International Airport four hours and thirty minutes later.

Traditional caps and gifts of Gilgit-Baltistan were distributed among the passengers. The aircraft was also presented with a water cannon salute by the airport authorities on arrival. The captain opened the cockpit window and hoisted the national flag to mark the occasion of Independence Day.
Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani called the development "a historic moment."

Taking the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, he claimed that the start of international flights to Skardu would create new travel opportunities and link the area to the rest of the world.

Separately, on August 14, Pakistan's 76th Independence Day, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, the ambassador of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), expressed happiness as the first international flight from Dubai took off for Skardu.
Notably, tourists will now be able to enjoy breathtaking views of Gilgit-Baltistan and its snow-capped Himalayan mountains.
PIA's weekly flights from Dubai to Skardu will play an important role in promoting tourism in the northern regions of Pakistan.
Tourists will now be able to reach Skardu by a three-and-a-half-hour direct flight from Dubai.
