PML-N Deputy Secretary Information Attaullah Tarar along with other local party leaders and 50 unknown persons have been booked for allegedly attacking the house of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Wasiq in Khanewal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Political parties in Punjab’s Khanewal closed their election campaign Tuesday night as polling was due on December 16.
The PP-206 fell vacant upon the death of Nishat Daha in October this year. Khanewal City Police have registered an FIR against Attaullah Tarar, Waheed Arain, Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, Sultan Gujjar and 50 unknown people.
Pertinent to note that the PTI had fielded Rana Mohammad Saleem in the 2018 general elections. He is now contesting the by-election on a PML-N ticket.
On the other hand, the widow of former PML-N candidate and MPA Nishat Daha, Noreen Nishat Daha, is representing the PTI.
As per media reports, the ECP has also decided to enlist support from the Rangers who will patrol the constituency on the polling day.
