Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has said the masses too bore the brunt of the anti-Nawaz plot.

In a televised address, the PML-N leader said a conspiracy was hatched to oust him and recalled the sufferings he faced.

He added: “Why the masses were left in the lurch when the conspirators wanted me removed from power?

“People are punished more severely than me. For 6 years, I have been pondering over why those who are hostile to me have inflicted big damage upon Pakistan.

“Terrorism resurged and the country was made a haven for the terrorists again. Why did the rupee value go down and the country was isolated? People were made to bear with inflation.

He went on: "I know that the masses will announce their verdict for the sake of a prosperous country on February 8".

“I faced jail. My daughter was too targeted. We were tried. We were made to show up at various courts in bogus cases.

“Abuses were hurled at us.  We faced character assassination. I was not allowed to perform the last rites of my parents and spend time with my wife in her last days though she always stood by me throughout my struggle.

He stressed that he left his case to the Almighty and he was blessed with success. Finally, my innocence had been proved.

Nawaz said: “The senior judges had been blackmailed at their houses in a bid to get the wanted decision. Why did the country have to bear the brunt of imposing any blue-eyed

“Those who showed enmity towards me targeted the country. The conspiracy started with a sit-in in 2014 and ended with my disqualification in 2017.
