Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday gave 10 more days to the federal government to resolve the issue regarding two appointments in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
During the course of hearing, IHC Chief Justice Athar Manallah remarked it was the collective responsibility of everyone to maintain the dignity of the parliament.
In another related development, former attorney general Irfan Qadir has entered the race for coveted post of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
His name was proposed by PPP. The PML-N has indicated it may also support Irfan Qadir’s name for the coveted post. There is near consensus on remaining names of ECP members.
