LG elections: PPP wins Sukkur Mayorship, PTI divides in Hyderabad

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) candidates have been elected unopposed on the seats of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chairman and Vice Chairman of District Council, Chairman and Vice Chairman of Town Committees and Municipal Committees in Sukkur while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) divided into two factions for the seat of Chairman and Vice Chairman of Town Pretabad and Shah Latifabad in Hyderabad.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, PPP's former mayor Arslan Sheikh was once again elected unopposed mayor of Sukkur and Dr Arshad Mughal was elected unopposed deputy chairman.
Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah's son Syed Kemail Haider Shah was elected unopposed as the Chairman of the District Council while Akhtar Mehr, the son of the late divisional president of PPP, Anwar Khan Mehr, was elected unopposed as the vice chairman of the district council.
Ex-Chairman Syed Mir Yaqoob Ali Shah was elected unopposed Chairman and Aslam Memon was Vice Chairman of the Rohri Municipal Committee while Mian Abdul Qavi was elected unopposed Chairman and Babar Ali Vice Chairman of the Anddhar Municipal Committee.
Syed Qalandar Bakhsh Shah was elected Chairman and Panko Lal Bajaj was Vice Chairman of the Salehpat Town Committee while Ghulam Akbar was elected unopposed Chairman and Ghulam Ali Kalhoro Vice Chairman of Bagurji Town Committee.
Irshad Ali was elected as chairman and Kanayo Lal as vice chairman of the Kundhra Town Committee.
Agha Iftikhar was elected Chairman and Ali Shah was Vice Chairman for Town Municipal Corporation Jai Shah while Deen Muhammad was Chairman and Ghulam Murtaza was Vice Chairman elected for Town Municipal Corporation Makki Shah.
The Election Commission has issued a notification of the success of Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arslan Sheikh and Deputy Mayor Dr Arshad Mughal along with the unopposed elected chairmen and Vice Chairmen.
On the other hand, PTI was divided into two factions for the seat of Chairman and Vice Chairman of Town Pretabad and Shah Latifabad in Hyderabad.
PTI will compete with its own party's candidates in both the towns, while out of 9 towns, apart from the mayor and deputy mayor of PPP, the chairmen of 7 towns were elected unopposed.
Osama Hafeez and Rehan Khan are PTI's nominees for Chairman and Vice Chairman in Shah Latifabad Town while Jamshed Sheikh and Adil Nawab Khan will be the candidates of the rebel group of PTI.
In Pretabad Town, the rebel group is also ahead of PTI nominee Chairman Sohail Jheju and Vice Chairman Saqib Shaikh. Adnan Rajput and Aamir Qureshi are against their own candidates.
