Despite the availability of lamination papers, the issue of delay in the issuance of passports persists as contrary to the assurance given by the DG passport, the backlog has again touched 500, 000 mark, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Sources told 24News that despite the fact that the Passport Office staff worked even on Saturdays and Sundays, the backlog continued to increase.
They disclosed that passports could not be issued to those applying for them after September 14.
They informed 25,000 passports were being issued on a daily basis, while 35, 000 people, planning to go abroad, applied for passports online daily.
