Another ‘shock’ in the making: CPPA wants Rs2.94 per unit raise in power tariff

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA has moved the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for a Rs2.94 per unit raise in power tariff.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the agency wanted to burden the public by surging the tariff under the March 2024 fuel adjustment.

Nepra will decide on the matter after taking up the CPPA's request’.

Last week, Nepra increased the electricity tariff by Rs4.92 per unit.

According to its notification, the price was hiked due to February's fuel adjustment and new rates will be changed from consumers in the bill of April. Sources said the increase put an Rs 40 billion additional burden on the people under the February 2024 fuel adjustment.
