The Supreme Court on Wednesday disposed of a plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan for the recounting of votes in Lahore’s NA-131 constituency for being ineffective, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
“Appeal for the recounting of votes has now become ineffective,” Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial said to Babar Awan, a lawyer for the PTI chairman.
“Yes sir, it has become completely ineffective. If you allow, I want to take instructions from the PTI chairman in this matter,” Babar Awan said in a reply.
“The National Assembly has been dissolved. What can be done in this matter after the dissolution of the assembly? Now we should wait for new elections,” the chief justice remarked.
“We are also impatiently waiting for the new elections,” Babar Awan said.
The court then dismissed the petition for being ineffective. A two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, heard the case.
