Former federal minister Humayun Akhtar has joined Jehangir Tareen’s Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
At a joint press conference attended by IPP founder Jehangir Khan Tareen and party president Abdul Aleem Khan in Lahore on Saturday, Humayun Akhtar announced his decision to join IPP.
He claimed that he could not continue to go along with the PTI. All their old friends have regrouped here, he said. “Together, we will strive for the prosperity of the nation,” he declared.
A few days ago, Tareen, along with Ishaq Khakwani and Awn Chowdhury met Humayun Akhtar at his home and invited him to join the party.
It bears mentioning that Akhtar left the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in June over the May 9 incidents.
In the past, he has been associated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.
