The Election Commission of Pakistan is all set to move the Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court decision to suspend the notification of appointment of government officials as district returning officers (DROs) and returning officers (ROs).
The application has been prepared, Election Commission Secretary Umar Hameed said as he approached the court. However, he said he can’t say anything about elections on February 8.
The Lahore High Court suspended the ECP notification appointing district returning officers (DROs) and returning officers (ROs) from the bureaucracy for the general elections on the plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Justice Ali Baqir Najafi gave the ruling, recommended forming a larger bench, and sent the file to the LHC chief justice.
