Mardan Police capture large haul of arms, explosives

The Mardan Jabar Police on Sunday claimed to have captured a large haul of explosives and arms from a vehicle in Sawaldair area.
The police also arrested a suspect.
According to police officials, a suspected car was stopped during snap checking at a picket. Upon search, the police recovered a huge haul of explosives and arms from secret compartments. According to Mardan DPO Sajjad Khan, the weapons and explosives included 56 pistols, 60 homemade bombs, 600-meter safety fuses and 50 detonators. The police also nabbed an accused and recovered three Kalashnikovs and its cartridges from his possession.
The officials revealed that the explosives and weapons were being smuggled to Malakand from Peshawar.
DRUG SMUGGLING BID THWARTED
Meanwhile, the Sheikh Maltoon Police along with the Excise Department foiled a drug smuggling bid and seized 3kg heroin.
According to DPO, the police and Excise Department officials set up a picket on Mardan-Nowshera Road. During checking, the officials recovered 3kg heroin from a car being smuggled to Peshawar. The police also arrested a smuggler, said to be resident of Landi Kotal.
The Sheikh Maltoon Police have registered a case and launched further investigation.
