Transporter shot dead on resistance

Two muggers shot dead a man on resistance and took away money and cellphone from him New Colony locality of Karachi’s Baldia Town.
According to police, the deceased man, identified as Ilyas, a transporter, was walking with his son when he was stopped by bike-borne robbers. The accused snatched Rs115,000 and a cellphone from him.
In the meanwhile, Ilyas attempted to pull out a pistol, prompting the robbers to open fire on him at point blank range.
The police quoting Abid, son of the deceased man who was with him, the robbers also took his father’s gun after shooting him. Ilyas had a legal license for the pistol, the police added.
The transporters association condemned the incident and flayed the police for failure to rein in the street criminals. They complained that incidents of snatching have become order of the day, which reflected the government failure to protect life, honor and property of the common man. Members of the Transport Association have threatened to go on strike if the culprits involved in the killing are not caught at the earliest.
