Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday revived its contact with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leadership to discuss future cooperation in the wake of recently-held general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

JI spokesman Qaisar Sharif told media men that PTI leader Sardar Latif Khosa made a telephonic contact with JI Deputy Amir Liaquat Baloch and sought cooperation after general elections.

Hailing JI Amir Sirajul Haq's political vision, Latif Khosa claimed that PTI believed that cooperation between the two key political parties should be made not only at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but also at the federal level.

Liaquat Baloch told the PTI leader that doors of negotiations were open for all political parties. Baloch also informed Khosa that he would brief the JI leadership about the PTI initiative and would come back to him with the reply.

The JI spokesman further said that a PTI negotiations team is likely to meet the JI leadership after Friday prayers today.

Latif Khosa also told JI leader that he would contact the JI leadership again after meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan.

Earlier, the Jamaat-e-Islami had ruled out any cooperation with the PTI, after earlier talks between the two parties failed to yield any result.

Liaquat Baloch stated that his party has opted not to collaborate with the PTI since it has established a coalition with another party at the federal level.
Baloch said, "There is no reason for us to form an alliance with the PTI only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," adding that negotiations with the PTI involved both the federal and provincial governments.
