The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has announced a new policy allowing students with FSC Pre-Medical conditional admission into engineering programs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
This significant move is designed to accommodate students who, despite their pre-medical studies, wish to transition into engineering or computer science disciplines, expanding their academic and career scopes.
According to the PEC's announcement, engineering universities nationwide can now admit up to 40% of their engineering program seats to FSc Pre-Medical students.
To ensure a smooth transition, the PEC has mandated an eight-week mathematics course for FSc Pre-Medical students before they begin their engineering studies.
Students must pass a test to confirm their competency upon completing the course.
The PEC has also set a minimum academic requirement for admission into any engineering program.
Students must have achieved at least 60% marks in their intermediate exams to qualify for engineering admissions.
This standard ensures that only students with a strong academic foundation are eligible to enter engineering programs.
