PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has declared that Pakistan would have defaulted if the IMF conditionalties were not accepted, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to newsmen outside Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday, the PML-N vice-president bravely faced the barrage of questions from the reporters about the prevailing inflation and another hefty rise in the prices of petroleum products.
Maryam stood confident to the teasing and pointed queries and answered them one by one.
She said the ousted PTI government deliberately lowered petrol price before it was kicked out. “It would take months to come out of the destruction unleashed by Imran Khan,” she added.
“When they learned that their government was about to collapse, they planted landmines for the incoming government,” she said, adding “They laid a trap for the next government.”
“When the governments leave, they happily tell their performance. But when the Imran-led government left, it was told that it laid land mines (for the next government),” Maryam Nawaz flayed, adding that the Shehbaz government did not impose a single rupee extra tax.
“When the economy was ruined, Imran Khan mortgaged the country to the IMF. The current government is facing difficulties due to Imran Khan’s agreement with the IMF,” she claimed.
“Shehbaz Sharif had to take a bitter sip on the IMF’s agreement,” said Maryam Nawaz, adding: “They (PTI) did not know how to handle the economy. They laid a trap for the next government.”
Maryam Nawaz maintained, “If we had not accepted the IMF agreement, Pakistan would have defaulted. When they (PTI) were leaving the government, they deliberately reduced the price of petrol.”
She added, “220 million people were made victim of this destruction and devastation. When they (PTI) found out that they were about to leave, they inflicted the injury while leaving.”
Maryam Nawaz said, “It will take months to recover from the destruction caused by Imran Khan.”
She questioned, “If conspiracy or interference was not a political issue, why did you (Imran Khan) go to the National Security Committee meeting.”
She also blamed Imran Khan for putting national security at risk for his politics, adding that Imran Khan was the biggest liar in the history of Pakistan.
“The question is not whether there was a conspiracy or interference. The lie has proved, and no proof is needed now,” she pointed out.
“Mian Nawaz Sharif is still far from home. I am alone enough for Imran Khan and his party. Revolutions do not come by sitting on a helicopter,” she remarked.
Maryam also stated that cases should be registered against Imran Khan, adding: “If anyone tries to spread mischief, the state will deal with him.”
She also stated that elections would be held on time.
