Rupee stronger against dollar, inter-bank rate stands at Rs158.40

The rupee traded stronger today (Monday) as it gained 57 paisas against dollar in the inter-bank rate.

The US dollar closed at Rs158.40 against the previous level of Rs158.97.

Earlier in the day, the rupee at one point had gained Rs1.72 against the dollar.

On Thursday, the US dollar had hit an eight-month high at Rs159.20 against the rupee in the inter-bank trading.

During the first four days of the last week, the dollar had overall gained Rs4.96 in inter-bank trading.
