A severe shortage of wheat flour at the state-run utility stores throughout Karachi is creating problems for the residents who have already been facing history's worst inflation, the 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.


A majority of Karachi residents belong to middle and low-income groups who heavily rely on government-operated utility stores for affordable groceries, particularly wheat flour is again facing shortage of flour during the holy month of in Ramadan. 


The scarcity of wheat flour at utility stores since beginning of holy month owing to mismanagement of the authorities has left the city's citizens in dire straits, forcing them to turn to local markets where flour prices are considerably higher.


This situation has driven up costs for a staple food item that is a fundamental part of the daily diet for countless households.


The Karachiits are increasingly voicing their concerns, urging the government to step in and ensure the availability of wheat flour at utility stores in holy month.
