Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman MNA Noor Alam Khan on Wednesday admonished the secretary Ministry of Law and Justice for not convening the ministry’s accounts committee meeting, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He was presiding over the PAC meeting in Islamabad.

Addressing the secretary, the PAC chairman asked him as to what was so pressing matter that he could not take time out for convening the committee meeting.

The accountant general, on the occasion, told the committee that an amount of over Rs550 million had been released to the ministry in grant. “The ministry first received supplementary grant and then surrendered it,” he said, adding that when the amount was surrendered the ministry’s expenses rose again.

Members of the parliamentary body, on the occasion, said that there was height of incompetence in the ministry since there was no financial control.

The PAC ordered the secretary to get performance audit of the ministry.
