Aleema Khan, elder sister of the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, said on Tuesday that hundreds of thousands of people went below the poverty line after removal of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government on April 10, 2022.
Talking to the media, Aleema Khan said that Pakistanis were going through difficult economic times. She said that overseas Pakistanis were happily willing to stop sending remittances to Pakistan. She said that hardworking Pakistanis send dollars to Pakistan and then the ruling class takes their dollars out of the country. She quoted Imran Khan as saying that London plan was aimed at crushing the PTI. She said that PTI’s election symbol was taken away as part of the phased London plan.
Aleema Khan said Imran Khan was of the view that 10,000 people were arrested for setting 10 buildings on fire, but this number of people could not be involved in such a limited number of incidents. She said that people deceived the rulers on February 8 and gave them the message that they stand against cruel system. She said that people’s mandate was stolen on February 9 and a fake government was installed.
Aleema said the rulers have also taken control of the Supreme Court of Pakistan by passing certain constitutional amendments in connivance with the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Issa. She said that fire was opened on people who came out on November 24 for the rule of law. She said that she was present there when fire was opened at the PTI supporters and many of them were martyred and wounded. She said that innocent people were martyred in darkness of night. She said that many people were witness to this bloodshed. She said that Imran Khan has demanded a judicial commission consisting of three senior most judges of the Supreme Court and release of all innocent people arrested in connection with May 9 or November 26 incidents. If these demands are not met, she said, Imran Khan will appeal to overseas Pakistanis not send dollars to Pakistan.
