IAPB-EMR co-chair Dr Baber visits Mayo Hospital

Dr. Babar Qureshi, co-chair for the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB-EMR) on Friday visited the College of Ophthalmology & Allied Vision Sciences (COAVS), Mayo Hospital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He is also the Director of Inclusive Eye Health and Tropical Diseases (UK). During his visit, he appreciated the tremendous dedication of Prof Dr. Asad Aslam Khan for bringing transformation in the prevention of blindness in Pakistan through the National Eyecare Plan.
He praised COAVS staff under the leadership of Prof Zahid Kamal Siddiqui on immaculate service delivery and HR development in eye care.
Prof Dr. Zahid Kamal Siddiqui informed that the ophthalmic fraternity in Pakistan has achieved the huge task of reducing the prevalence of blindness from 1.78 to 0.50. “Moreover, we are on the verge of being declared Trachoma Free Country.”
Dr. Babar Qureshi visited the operation theatre, diagnostic department, optometry skill labs, and low vision clinic to appreciate CBM's support and contribution to the benefit of marginalized patients coming to Mayo Hospital.
He also inaugurated an optometry skill lab established by CBM at Mayo Hospital Lahore.
Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, Country Director, CBM, reiterated his resolve to support COAVS-KEMU in the prevention of blindness.
