The Government of Pakistan has decided to launch a campaign to vaccinate young children against coronavirus as all the indicators of the disease show signs of receding throughout the country.
According to a tweet uploaded by National Institute of Health (NIH) Pakistan, the government is launching the campaign to vaccinate children aged 5-11 years against Covid-19 from September 19, 2022 (Monday).

Meanwhile, Pakistan has reported another 104 coronavirus infections and one fatality during the last 24 hours (Friday), showed the statistics released by the National Institute of Health (NIH) on Saturday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to NIH data, the death toll in the country now rose to 30,605 while the number of total infections now stood at 1,571,732 after adding the fresh 104 cases.
During the last 24 hours (Friday), 16,614 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan whereas the positivity ratio stood at 0.63 percent. The number of patients in critical care was recorded at 91.

During the last 24 hours (Friday), another 176 patients have recovered from the Covid-19 in Pakistan and the number of total recoveries now stood at 1,535,895. As of Friday, the total count of active cases in the country was recorded at 5,232.
As many as 593,951 coronavirus cases have so far been confirmed in Sindh, 521,967 in Punjab, 224,098 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 139,364 in Islamabad, 35,986 in Balochistan, 44,310 in Azad Kashmir and 12,056 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
As many as 13,611 individuals have lost their lives to the pandemic in Punjab so far, 8,238 in Sindh, 6,363 in KP, 1,031 in Islamabad, 793 in Azad Kashmir, 378 in Balochistan and 191 in Gilgit Baltistan.
India reports 5,747 fresh Covid cases, 29 deaths
India on Saturday reported 5,747 fresh Covid cases and 29 deaths in the last 24 hours, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. With the fresh fatalities, the death toll due to Covid rose to 5,28,302.
Meanwhile, the active caseload has marginally risen to 46,848 cases, accounting for 0.11 percent of the country's total positive cases.
The recovery of 5,618 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,39,53,374. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.71 percent.
Meanwhile, daily positivity rate stands at 1.69 percent, while the weekly positivity rate at 1.74 percent. Also, in the same period, a total of 3,40,211 tests were conducted, increasing the overall tally to over 89.12 crore.
As of Saturday morning, Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 216.41 crore. Over 4.07 crore adolescents have been administered with first dose of Covid vaccine since the beginning of drive for this age bracket.
On Friday, the country had reported 6,298 infections.
