Punjab Education Minister insists parents to pay revised schools fee

Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas Saturday directed private schools to ensure payment of salaries to teachers and staff and asked parents to pay the fees if it has been revised; a notification has been issued in this raged. 

The minister tweeted: “Following is the Notification for Private Schools in Punjab to collect the fees. SOP & dates have clearly been stated. I want to insist that parents should go pay the fees at the earliest if their Fee Bills have been Revised. #StayHomeSaveLives”

Punjab School Education Department said timeline and mechanism regarding fees collection and payment of salaries for Private Schools in Punjab have been issued. 

“District Regulatory Authorities (DRAs) have been directed to ensure strict compliance of the Standard Operating Producers (SOPs) and schedule given in the notification,” the department said.

Earlier, All Pakistan Private Schools Federation President Kashif Mirza said that education minister’s tweets did not have any legal standing and All Pakistan Private Schools Federation termed the fee cut announced on Twitter by the government illegal and against the constitution. The minister’s tweets did not have any legal standing and demanded to take back such illegal order.

“Murad Raas was holding meetings with a fraction of private school owners who did not have anything to do with the federation. The government had not yet issued any notification for the 20pc cut in school fee and even if it was issued they would challenge it in court,” he said.
