The Punjab government has told the Lahore High Court that Barrister Hassaan Niazi who is the nephew of PTI Chairman Imran Khan has been handed over to the military, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The LHC on Friday heard a petition filed for the recovery of the PTI lawyer Hassaan Niazi.
During the hearing, the Punjab government submitted a report about Mr Niazi to the court.
The provincial government informed that Mr Niazi was handed over to the military.
The PTI lawyer and Imran Khan’s nephew has been nominated as the main accused in the Jinnah House attack.
The LHC has sought replies from the Punjab government and police on a habeas corpus petition challenging the alleged illegal detention of Mr Niazi.
His father, Hafeezullah Khan Niazi, submitted a plea seeking his son’s recovery what he called the unlawful detention of the police.
Mr Niazi was arrested by police in Abbottabad on August 14 as he had gone into hiding after May 9 violence. Police were looking for him everywhere. First, he was handed over to the Quetta police. Later, he was transferred to the Rawalpindi police.
