Different sections of motorway closed as fog blankets parts of Punjab, KP

The Motorway Police (MP) on Wednesday morning announced the closure of a section of the motorway, M2, from Lahore to Hiran Minar, and another section, from Lahore to Jarranwala, due to thick fog, which engulfed swathes of central Punjab in the wee hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Similarly, the motorway (M1) was also closed for all kinds of traffic from Peshawar to Rashakai in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) until further orders.

The MP advised people to first avoid traveling unnecessarily and if it was inevitable, prefer traveling during the daytime; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The police said that motorists must use their vehicles' front and back lights while driving besides keeping a reasonable distance from other vehicles.

The MP asked people to immediately contact its staffers on helpline number 130 in case of an emergency.
