Funeral prayers of Siachen martyr soldier Abdul Ghaffar offered in Pakpattan

The funeral prayers of soldier Abdul Ghaffar, who embraced martyrdom in Siachen, were offered in his native village in Pakpattan, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to the channel report, the burial of Shaheed Abdul Ghaffar was carried out with full military honours. A good number of local people also attended his last rituals.
The martyr hailed from the nearby area of Bail Ganj in Pakpattan. Abdul Ghaffar attained the highest honour of martyrdom while defending the motherland.

It is 75 km (47 miles) long, which makes it the second longest nonpolar glacier in the world, after Fedchenko Glacier in Tajikistan.
It is believed to have been up to 165 km (103 miles) long in the past, on the basis of evidence of glaciation events that occurred some 145,000 years ago.
Siachen assumes strategic significance for Pakistan, India, and even China because it forms a hub between Shaksgam Valley, Karakoram Pass and Aksai Chin.
