Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Isa Saturday convened a high-level consultative meeting in his chamber to deliberate on the allegations levelled by the Commissioner of Rawalpindi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justices Muneeb Akhtar, Yahya Afridi, Ayesha Malik, and Athar Minallah were among those participating in the meeting.
The allegations were thoroughly discussed during the meeting.
The meeting convenes shortly after the Rawalpindi Commissioner, Liaqat Ali Chatta confessed to his "involvement in rigging election results in the city", and resigned from his post demanding to be "hanged for doing injustice" to the Rawalpindi Division.
After the consultation, the meeting decided not to take suo moto notice of allegations.
It was decided in the meeting that the hearing of the election-related case is already scheduled for February 19.
The case of Commissioner Rawalpindi will be reviewed in the pre-arranged case.
The involvement of apex court justices underscores the gravity of the matter and the need for a meticulous examination of the accusations.
The meeting is currently ongoing, and no official announcement regarding the decision has been made yet.
