Due to severe shortage of dollars and import restrictions, the work of the auto sector has come to a standstill, reported 24NewsHDTV channel.

Auto Parts Manufacturers Association former chairman Mashhood Khan said that due to temporary closure by the auto manufactures, the demand has almost reduced to nil. The auto sector has been working only for two days in a week since the start of this month. He said the situation does not bode well in future, adding that both the traders and industrialists are extremely worried.

He said due to shortage of dollars and non-availability of imported goods, the production of industries has decreased.

The auto sector including the local auto parts manufacturing companies are also suffering due to lack of demand which has forced the auto industry to work only for two days in a week.

Mashhood Khan said that the problems started from July 2022 when the car companies started to temporarily shut down their plants thus reducing the demand.

Due to lack of demand, the auto manufactures also operated for four days a week from July to December 2022.

“But now the situation has worsened in January 2023,” he added.

The former chairman wondered how the manufacturers could make parts if there is no demand for them.

He noted that the galloping inflation is also having serious negative effects on employees.
