PA Budget Session: Legislators suggested surrendering privileges, free petrol

In the Punjab Budget Session on Saturday, treasury member Sheikh Allauddin has suggested his colleague legislators give up their all privileges and a facility of free petrol from the government.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Punjab Assembly session on Saturday started with a delay of one hour and thirty minutes under the chairmanship of the Panel of Chairman Khalil Tahir Sindhu.
The PA session was adjourned for 15 minutes in anticipation of the commencement of the budget debate of the Leader of the Opposition Sabtain Khan. However, the Assembly session resumed in his absence.
Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and other government members attended the meeting.
In the budget meeting, government member Sheikh Allauddin suggested to the members to give up assembly privileges and petrol facilities.
Allauddin said that in view of the situation in the country, the members of the Assembly should stop taking petrol and other concessions.
On this suggestion, the House witnessed a mixed reaction. Chaudhry Iftikhar Chachhar agreed with Sheikh Allauddin’s suggestion while Samiullah Khan said that other institutions should also consult on it.
Senior Provincial Minister Syed Hassan Murtaza said that if Sheikh Allauddin gave up the Own-Money on the sale of vehicles to the masses then they (legislators) will also give up their salaries.
Legislators including Muavia Azam, and Mehwish Sultana also participated in the discussion about the proposed budget in the assembly.
